Happy New Year folks! I am finnaly back from a long journey, and I have something new to present to you!
Here is my most recent project I did. It’s a circuit in Republic of Macedonia in the town of Kičevo. A track that is actually a part of a quite poorly maintained military base with lots of overgrown grass and bushes.. Driving is quite tricky, track surface is uneven and trackside area is dangerous (just like most of the circuits in ex-Yugoslavia). What made me make this track is the fact that I had an advantage, and that is that I knew exactly what techniques I’d use from the early start so I managed to make the whole track in just under a week, mostly spending time in Bob’s track builder, with only doing the final finish in 3dsimed.
Though the simple tools I used, the track still looks impressive. I tried to make it visually as close as possible to the real one.
With the help from MJanosh, a real race driver (and as well a good virtual one xD) from AKKNK team, I knew from first hand how to design and where to put certain bumps, runoff areas and trackside objects to give a track the true spirit and feeling. After many track transfers and him reporting me “YOU DID IT BAD!” =p, I finished it and sent it to MJanosh for final testing, he confirmed that it is [almost] 100% real! Which finally gave me lots of relief =)
Since no other people from his team or Macedonia knew about the project while it was made, he made an announcement on his team’s forums that the big surprise is about to be uncovered in the form of an online race. When the venue’s name was unveiled in a video, the people were truly surprised and enjoyed the first public online race he prepared all with the Yugos, and authentic car perfect for the setting. xD
